I hope everyone had a truly lovely spring break, Easter, Passover, etc.  Spring has such promise with the blooms just ready to bust and the green buds on trees showing that our whole world is in growth mode.

Perhaps because of all this promise of nature AND starting the Moxie Mama blog, I have also been in growth mode.  It may also explain my attraction to everything floral for spring.  As I’ve mentioned before, florals have presented a challenge to me historically.  Now that I’ve discovered how to make them work for me (The Art of Compromise in Fashion), I am pushing petals everywhere.

To celebrate this obsession, I visited The Frick here in Pittsburgh.  The Frick features the historical home of Henry Clay Frick (“Clayton” as they called it), a huge art collection, classic cars and gorgeous gardens. I love to come here to take in the stunning gardens and drool over the art and antiques in the home. Top your afternoon off with a champagne lunch at the top-notch cafe and you have the perfect afternoon.

To embrace the whole vibe at Clayton (Pittsburgh’s own mini-Downton Abbey), I wanted the perfectly proper dress for the ladies who lunch.  W by Worth has done spring florals better than anyone in a way that is classic yet still on trend.  This maxi dress is breezy and lovely for Mother’s Day, a spring wedding or shower, really anytime you want to feel super feminine.

The digital floral print is like art on the most divine fabric.  The buttons come to just above the knee to show the perfect amount of skin and to allow the fabric to move when you do. Paired back with neutral espadrilles in the afternoon, or something strappier for a dressy event and your look is made.

Of course I always prefer a couple options for wearing each piece I feature.  While this dress comes with a liner slip, I popped some white scalloped J. Crew shorts under it and unbuttoned the dress up to the waist.  I LOVE how this small change completely changes the look for a younger and trendier look. Add to this the long line of the dress and some wedges, and it also creates the appearance of longer legs (WINNING)!!

I have been finishing so many of my spring looks with my new sunnies from Stella and Dot, and this day was no exception.  These pink frames complement so many looks and reflect your happy surrounding as you go about your day.
